A few words about Saint Anthony of Padua
Saint Anthony of Padua enjoys a rare privilege: he is one of the few saints whose statue is found in almost every church in the world.
He was born in Portugal but spent a large part of his life in Italy, in Padua.
He led a life of high contemplation in Monte Paolo (Romagna). He then devoted himself to preaching and had great success there, confirmed by brilliant prodigies…
He entered the Canons Regular of Saint Augustine and remained for eleven years in the Monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra. In this renowned center of theological studies, he acquired a wonderful knowledge of the Holy Scripture.
Antonio died in Padua, in Italy, on June 13, 1231.
He was canonized in 1232 and in 1945, he was Appointed Doctor of the Universal Church.
