Pastor preaches on the street after the faithful could not enter

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- A large forest fire affected two communities in Manitoba, Canada. Hundreds of people had to be evacuated from their homes and moved to hotels in Winnipeg, where they have been for months.

All this situation promoted some meetings. People living in the hotel expressed a desire to hold a worship service, so the Red Cross contacted a local church to help them, CHVN reports.

When Pastor Marty McLean and other church ministers arrived at a hotel conference room, they found it nearly empty. They found that most people did not have Covid-19 vaccination QR codes. And the hotel couldn’t let people in without proof of vaccination.

“We thought quickly, said ‘OK’ and contacted the hotel manager and he said we could set up the worship structure outside. So in a matter of 15 minutes we removed the equipment and installed it in the parking lot, converted into a church”, explained the pastor.

Obstacles did not stop evangelization

What might have seemed like a roadblock to some simply turned into a bit of a turnoff for McLean and his team.

“You know, just going in there, I think it was much better to actually be there than to go into a closed conference room,” the pastor said. He also says that it meant that many people who might not have attended the church service ended up hanging around and listening to worship music and the preaching of the Gospel.

The preaching was carried out with the help of Pastor Hilda Leveque, who shared the good news of Jesus with those present, both in English and in Ojibway.

“Thank God for touching people’s lives tonight,” Leveque wrote in a Facebook post Sunday night.
