– The regional delegation of the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (INADI) in Argentina denounced Pastor Jesús López of the Centro Cristiano Antorcha, after he announced on his social networks the testimony of a “former homosexual ” named Abraham López and his encounter with God.
Through a publication, the pastor invited his followers to a talk on the “Transformados” program, where they would talk with Abraham and tell his experience of the life process when he decided to be a woman.
INADI explained in a statement that his complaint was because “these actions violate the rights of people from the LGTBYQ+ community such as freedom of gender expression, sexual identity and diversity of bodies. In recent years, we have evolved in human rights to promote a cultural change that allows us to create a fairer and more egalitarian country”.
Pastor answers
In this regard, the pastor responded through the same program where he had initially invited to know the story, “I have been accused of being homophobic and the truth is that this is a total lie because they can accuse me of everything but less of saying that I hate the homosexual, the transsexual, the bisexual, the transgender. They have no arguments about that. If the argument is that I am a Christian and because I am a Christian, I am branded as homophobic, it seems to me that your argument is very weak,” the pastor began by saying.
He added that “I have never branded homosexuality as a disease. I disagree with those who say that. They have accused me of that and I want to deny it because I have never said it. And much less have I proclaimed myself against the homosexual. If I think differently, but that does not make me an enemy,” López emphasized.
He urged the entire congregation and those who criticized him to visit his church when the Covid-19 pandemic is over and unite in “peace.”
Finally, he made it clear that for him, homosexuality is a very personal decision and he cannot do anything about it.
“I have the right to agree or not, but I would never dare to condemn. Our church is never going to close the door to anyone who thinks differently, the day I do that I have to stop being a pastor,” he concluded.
