CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Planned Parenthood assured in a statement that they will stop performing abortions in Lubbock, Texas. In the city, the prohibition of the practice of abortion was approved by vote. For this reason the largest abortion clinic in the country stopped its operations
Lubbock voters approved the measure with a 62% yes vote. The law entered into force on June 1. Therefore the city declares itself as ‘A Sanctuary for the Unbornyes‘. The measure will not apply when the mother’s life is at risk, reports Everything Lubbock.
The abortion clinic had to stop operations, but they say they will resume abortions, “when legally permitted.”

“Currently, Lubbock residents must travel to access safe, legal abortion. This ban on abortions does not offer exemptions in cases of rape and incest. The abortion ban violates the constitutional right of patients to abortion and we are in court to block this ban for patients,” said Kem Lambrecht, president of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
“Lubbock’s abortion ban creates significant barriers and the need to travel a minimum of 600 miles round-trip or out of state for patients seeking an abortion,” Lambrecht said.
That same day, the measure carried out by the clinic was dismissed by the district judge, James Wesley Hendrix, nominated for the position by former President Trump.
“Lubbock has shown that large cities can pass the ordinance and can take meaningful steps to defend the unborn,” said pro-life organization Texas Right to Life.
Lubbock’s population is made up of 250,000 citizens. And they will continue to work to protect the sacred right of life.
