Police pastor found in the FBI the way to plant a church

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Vic Carpenter is an FBI agent and American pastor who tells his testimony about how God led him to the pastoral ministry having to first become a policeman, reports Baptist Press.

Carpenter grew up in a Christian home and while in college received a call to be a pastor.

However, Carpenter’s ministerial life was not as expected, he thought he would train as a pastor and directly lead a church, but God’s plans were different for him.

Upon graduating from college, Carpenter served in campus ministry at Appalachian State University, then went to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and served as youth minister.

While doing his Ph.D., the man served as an associate pastor and earned a license in real estate.

Carpenter tried to revive a dying church, however, he also needed to support his family, so he decided to apply for different jobs.

Carpenter began looking for a new church to pastor, at the same time that he was looking for a job, but received no response, it was then that he decided to join the FBI.

To his surprise, he was selected, and overcame various filters until six months later he became an agent.

“It was a radical turn of events,” he said. “It provided for my family, and it was exciting in a way. But it was also the death of a vision. I felt like I wasted the last 10 years of my life.”

Later, when Carpenter joined the FBI rescue team, he realized that several of the members were Christians.

In addition, the man began to see his opportunities to profess the gospel as a police officer expand.

“In God’s providence, three other boys in my class and I started a Bible study at the workplace,” Carpenter said. “It was the first time I had done a Bible study in that kind of environment.”

The Bible study gave rise to a prayer group that grew larger and larger. As a result, it expanded into a Christian ministry that also has an affiliated church.

Carpenter became the pastor of these churches, whose ministry goes by the name Redeemer Bible Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia,

Many of the pastor’s fellow agents have found the Lord at Redeemer Bible Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia,

Now Carpenter teaches others to lead Bible studies from their workplaces.
