In the psalm 140 a request is made for the evil man to be delivered, and kept from those who are violent. Who plot evil in the heart, and have a tongue as sharp as a serpent. It is requested that he protect himself from the hands of the wicked.
It is prayed that the wishes of the wicked are not granted, that their thoughts do not go forward. May embers fall on them, may they be thrown into the fire in abysses so deep that they cannot get out. It is trusted that Jehovah will take charge of the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the needy. And it will be when the righteous praise his name.
🙏Prayer Psalm 140🙏
Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man and
save me from the violent man,
who plot evil in the heart
and every day they provoke wars.
They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent;
asp venom is under his lips. Selah
Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
protect me from the violent man,
who has thought to upset my steps.
The proud have hidden traps and ropes for me;
they have spread a net along the path;
they have put ties on me. Selah
I have said to Jehovah: You are my God;
hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplications.
O Jehovah, Lord, power of my salvation,
you covered my head on the day of battle.
Grant not, O Jehovah, to the wicked his desires;
do not carry out his evil designs, so that he does not become arrogant. Selah
As for those around me,
the wickedness of their own lips covered their heads.
Burning coals fall on them;
be thrown into the fire,
in deep abysses from which they do not come out.
Let not the foul-mouthed man remain on earth;
let evil hunt the violent man to bring him down.
I know that Jehovah will uphold the cause of the afflicted
and that of the needy.
Surely the righteous will praise your name;
The righteous will dwell in your presence.
