PRAYER OF THE HOLY CURE OF ARS
PRAYER OF THE HOLY CURE OF ARS
“I LOVE YOU, OH MY GOD”
Author: Saint John Mary Vianney
I love you, oh my God.
my only desire is to love you
Until the last breath of my life.
I love you, O infinitely loving God,
And I prefer to die loving you than to live a moment without you.
I love you oh my God and my only fear is going to hell
Because there I would never have the sweet consolation of your love,
Oh my God,
if my tongue cannot tell
every moment that I love you,
at least i want
Let my heart repeat it every time I breathe.
Ah, give me the grace to suffer while I love you,
And to love you while I suffer,
and the day I die
Not only love you but feel that I love you.
I beg you that the closer you are to my time
Final increase and perfect my love for You.
Amen.
THE PRAYER ACCORDING TO THE HOLY CURE OF ARS
Beautiful obligation of man: pray and love
Consider it, my children: the treasure of the Christian man is not on earth, but in heaven. For this reason, our thoughts must always be oriented towards where our treasure is.
Man has a beautiful duty and obligation: to pray and to love. If you pray and love, you will have found happiness in this world.
Prayer is nothing other than union with God. Everyone who has a pure heart united to God experiences in himself a softness and sweetness that intoxicates him, he feels as if surrounded by an admirable light.
In this intimate union, God and the soul are like two pieces of wax melted into one, which no one can separate. This union of God with his poor creature is something very beautiful; it is a happiness beyond our comprehension.
We had made ourselves unworthy to pray, but God, in his goodness, has allowed us to speak with him. Our prayer is the incense that pleases him most.
My children, your heart is small, but prayer dilates it and makes it capable of loving God. Prayer is an anticipated tasting of heaven, it makes a part of paradise come down to us. She never leaves us without sweetness; it is like honey that is poured over the soul and sweetens everything.
In prayer done properly, sorrows melt away like snow before the sun.
Another benefit of prayer is that it makes time pass so quickly and with such delight that its duration is not even perceived. Look: when I was a parish priest in Bresse, on a certain occasion, when almost all my colleagues had fallen ill, I had to take long walks, during which I prayed to the good Lord, and believe me, time was running out for me.
There are people who totally immerse themselves in prayer like fish in water, because they are totally given over to the good Lord. His heart is not divided. How I love these generous souls! Saint Francis of Ass and Saint Coleta saw our Lord and spoke to him in the same way that we speak to each other.
We, on the contrary, how many times we come to Church without knowing what we have to do or ask! And yet, when we go to someone’s house, we know very well why we are going. There are some who even seem as if they say to the good Lord: “Just two words, to get rid of you…” I often think that when we come to worship the Lord, we will get everything we ask for if we ask with faith. very alive and a very pure heart.
