Saint John of God was born in Montemor-o-Novo in 1495. From a very young age he lived in Spain, where he joined the army.
His conversion occurred years later when he heard a sermon by San Juan de Ávila. His life changed completely and he started acting crazy, so he was confined in the Royal Hospital.
In the hospital he reflected and helped the other patients. After that, she managed to leave and reach the sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Extremadura. There he promised the Virgin that she was going to dedicate her whole life to helping the underprivileged.
When is Saint John of God celebrated?
He is venerated on March 8 because he founded the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God and dedicated his entire life to helping the sickest.

Dear Saint John of God, protector of the weak, the needy and the helpless, who never abandons the poor souls who are in depression and suffer from the evil deeds of others. We invoke your presence to ask you to enlighten us and, in this way, any bad feeling around us will go away.
Oh! Venerable saint, you were helped by the Archangel San Rafael when you needed it most, for which you understand our hardships. We implore you (name the favor).
We beg you to look at us with mercy and do not ignore our humble requests, because you understand that we have shortcomings and anguish that prevent us from finding peace of mind.
