Who was Saint Expeditus?
He was a Roman soldier early 4th century, who commanded a Roman legion for Emperor Diocletian. The stories tell that he converted to Christianity after being moved to see how Christians accepted death.
After this, a raven appeared to him representing the spirit of evil, which insisted on postponing his conversion. However, Saint Expeditus ignored him and, illuminated by the Glory of God, became a believer. He claimed: “I will not leave anything for tomorrow, I will be a Christian today!”
Such a decision made the emperor order to kill him and his companions in melitenteon April 19, 303. This did not make his spirit and devotion waver, dedicating the rest of his life to the service of God.
Therefore, Saint Expeditus is considered the Patron Saint of emergencies, of just and noble causes. He is also known as the defender of impossible causes and the mediator of disputes or lawsuits.
