Santa Marta, is my favorite saint, who I ask for help the times I have had a problem and it has given me excellent results, which is why I am motivated to share this prayer to Saint Martha. According to biblical tradition, Santa Marta was the sister of Mary of Bethany and Saint Lazarus, whom Christ raised from the dead. In a story from the Gospel of Luke, Martha welcomes Jesus into her home and serves him food while he preaches to her sister Mary that she sits at her feet.
After the crucifixion, according to medieval legend, Martha, Mary, and Lazarus travel to the south of France where they preach the Gospel and help spread Jesus’ message of peace and love. She was also credited for having rebuked and tamed a dragon-like monster called the Tarasque, by sprinkling it with holy water and calling on the name of God. I personally love Santa Marta because her example shows us that we can receive greatness by doing simple things as long as they are done with love and faith.
Santa Marta appears very often in Afro-Caribbean iconography as a light-skinned African woman with two large snakes wrapped around her body. The snakes could be a world remake of the Tarasque from French medieval imagery. In Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, her devotees believe that she kills her snakes in your name to eat up the negativity and obstacles that hold you back in life.
It is also invoked very often in love spells so much so that it has come to be called Santa Marta “The Dominator” due to his ability to make people do his bidding in matters of love.
