PRAYERS BEFORE COMMUNICATING

PREPARATION FOR COMMUNION

I believe, my Jesus, that you are present in the sacred Host that the Priest has consecrated in the Holy Mass…

I believe, Jesus, that you are God and true Man; that you are God like the Father and the Holy Spirit and that you are Man like us…

I believe that as God you are everywhere; and as a Man you are in Heaven and in the consecrated Host…

Increase, Lord, the faith that I have, so that I can receive you worthily…

I hope you will be well with me, because I wish to receive you with fervor…

Remember that I have repented and that I have proposed never to sin again…

Come to me, my Jesus, I never want to leave you again…

Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. to a God in Three Persons I bless and sing.

PRAYER OF LOVE AND CHARITY

How good you are, my Jesus, even with those who have offended you, but who have confessed all their sins…

As the father of the prodigal received his son, so you receive repentant sinners with love and affection…

This moves me, Lord, to prostrate myself at your feet and tell you: I love you, Jesus, I love you…

The love you have for me moved you to come down from Heaven to earth, and this same love has moved you to stay in this Sacrament…

For this love moves me also love to love you; yes, I love you because you loved me; I love you, because you deserve to be loved above all things…

Because of me you came down from Heaven and wanted to be born in a poor stable; for me you died on a cross. You did it for me, Lord.

I love you and I don’t want to upset you.

I love you and separate me from all sin.

I love you and I want to love you all my life.

Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit: to a God in Three Persons I bless and sing.

PRAYER OF CONTRICTION AND PAIN

Jesus, my Jesus, I am sorry for having offended you, because you are so good and the same Goodness, that you now want to come to me…

I have confessed my sins, and in your name the Priest, who is your Representative on earth, has forgiven them…

You are angry with me because of my sins; but now your anger has turned into love and compassion for me…

You are Holy, Lord. I regret having been such a sinner, Forgive me, Lord…

Thank you, OH Jess, for forgiving me; thank you, because now you want to come to me…

I go to the doctor as if sick, so that he can cure me of my illnesses…

I go like a blind man who does not see on the way to heaven, to the one who is the Light of the world who will save me…

I want to receive you with great reverence and humility, with devotion and love, with faith and purity.

Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit: to a God in Three Persons I bless and sing.

THE COMMUNION WITH MOST HOLY MARY

MARA: Think carefully about what you are going to do, dear soul; you will receive my Jesus.

The soul: Yes, my Mother, I know, I am going to receive Jesus, that same Jesus whom you love so much and from whom you were so loved.

MARA: Do you already have a clean heart? Have you confessed all your sins? Is there anything in you that could displease Jesus?

The soul: YES, I have confessed and I believe that I have no sin on my conscience.

MARA: Well, my son, that is how you please Jesus and you please Me. But, do you already have the necessary virtues to receive Communion?

The soul: What virtues are they, my Mother?

MARA: You must love Jesus very much; you have to be obedient, humble and, above all, pure. You must take communion in my company. Receive Jesus as I received him.

The soul: I wish to have these virtues.

MARA: So your fellowship will be good.

Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit: to a God in Three Persons I bless and sing.

PRAYER OF DESIRE

How happy they are already, O Jesus, those who are with You in Heaven; they will praise you eternally And with them I wish to praise you.

Since I cannot yet see you in Heaven, I wish to receive you on earth, hidden under the guise of that little Host.

Oh Jesus, I have remembered You and I have said: I am going, I am going to Communion, thinking that You are waiting for me and invite me to receive You.

This fills me with joy, and my heart longs for you to unite with you. Come, Jesus, come.

Come and remove from my heart everything that can displease you.

Come and make me know how to work to sanctify myself and save my soul.

Come and make me yours, always yours, in this and in the other life. Amen.

Come and make me holy; come and allow me to enjoy You in Heaven. Amen. Amen.

Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit: to a God in Three Persons I bless and sing.
