.- Secular country music singer Jimmie Allen shed light on his deep love for contemporary Christian music.
“I listen to K-Love and Air1 all the time,” Allen recently said in an interview ahead of the K-Love Fan Awards. “It grounds you,” he added of Christian music, reports Christian Headlines.
Allen’s name is well known among country fans. He won several awards in 2021 for his musical work, as well as being nominated for a Grammy. He even sang in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last year.
This fall, she will embark on the 43-city “Denim and Rhinestones” tour with Carrie Underwood.
However, Allen has not strayed from his Christian musical roots. When he first moved to Nashville more than a decade ago, he led worship at The People’s Church in Franklin (now Church of the City).
“I love Christian music. I grew up a Christian, and still am. But I always wanted to do country music. But I’m a big fan of Christian music, and I’ve always wanted to do songs with Christian artists,” he explained.
Allen listed several Christian artists who influenced him as a young man: Mike Purkey, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Fred Hammond, Bee Bee and Ce Ce Wynans, DC Talk, and Andrae Crouch.
He even credits Christian music with saving his life during a season of darkness. “About a year ago, he was in a tough spot. And the music of Maverick City Music literally saved my life,” she revealed.
Finally, he added that his Christian faith has played an important role in his musical career. Since faith gives you patience.
