One day the apostle Saint Thomas was walking through the gardens of heaven, when he saw a soul pass by that did not shine as much as the others… and then he saw another… and one more… He immediately went to claim Saint Peter. ..Listen, Pedro, why are there some souls who are later seen not to have as many qualities and virtues as the others? Pedro answered him somewhat nervously, since Tomás was capable of creating a scandal that could even cost him his job. Tell me where, Thomas? Everywhere, indicated the complainant. “Let’s see,” said Pedro, and leaving the goal they headed for the gardens.
Indeed, souls were seen everywhere that did not shine so brightly. However, they seemed happy to be there.
Well look, those haven’t gone through the door. I wouldn’t have let them in… Pedro pointed out. Well then, something strange is happening here, and we better investigate -said Tomás with determination, who needed to see the origin of the situation. They decided to go through the fences of Paradise, and to their surprise they found a large hole in one of the fences, the one closest to Earth.
Caramba! This is where they’re sneaking in,” Tomás said with a triumphant air. The one who did this, he is going to pay dearly with our God, who although good, is very fair… sentenced Pedro. They both approached the hole, and to their surprise they discovered that an immense rosary had been tied from there that reached the Earth, and many souls were coming up from there.
Both apostles turned around with faces of surprise and dismay… After a silence, Peter said: Oh, Mary hasn’t changed at all. Since I met her in Cana I knew that she was one of those people who did not stop helping… (Jn 2, 1-11) Resigned Thomas said: If not even her Son escapes from her. Do you remember that he did not want to do the miracle of the wedding at Cana and with a single look from Ella he agreed? Pedro concluded by saying: Look, Tomás, you and I haven’t seen anything… .
You too?, resounded a voice that startled them… With frightened faces they turned towards the Lord and perceived a pleasant smile. He told them: “Don’t worry… These are Mom’s things.”
This is a simple story, but it undoubtedly reflects a great truth. A solid spiritual life must be based on the daily recitation of the Rosary. It is common to hear phrases like “I have a lot to do, I don’t have time for the Rosary, etc.” Our main duty is to attain eternal life… What good would it do us to gain the whole world if we lose our soul?
