Shipwrecked
The sole survivor of a shipwreck washed up on the beach of a tiny, uninhabited island. He fervently prayed to God for rescue, and each day he scanned the horizon for help, but it didn’t seem to come.
Tired, he finally opted to build himself a log cabin to protect himself from the elements and store his few belongings.
One day, after prowling the island in search of food, he returned home to find his little cabin engulfed in flames, smoke rising into the sky. The worst had happened…she had lost everything. He was stunned with sadness and anger.
“God: how could you do this to me!” she wailed herself.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island. He had come to rescue him.
How did you know I was here? the tired man asked his rescuers.
“We saw your smoke signal,” they replied.
It’s easy to get discouraged when things go wrong. But we must not get discouraged, because God works in our lives, even in the midst of pain, uncertainty and suffering.
Have faith! God is with you and he will help you get ahead.
