Singer Tori Kelly: “My identity is with Christ, not fame”

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- The singer and songwriter Tori Kelly said that her faith and identity in Christ keep her feet on the ground so she doesn’t let fame affect her.

“It’s really about knowing what your priorities are and knowing that this is all amazing,” Kelly said, referring to her singing career, Christian Headlines reports.

“What we can do is amazing, right? Not everyone can do this. There is a very, very small group of people in the world who can do what we do. And it’s amazing. That’s why I’m so grateful for it,” she commented.

“But I think the thing that helped keep me grounded, so to speak, is knowing that I’m still Tori. If all that disappeared, my identity is in Christ. And my identity is who God says I am,” he said.

He says it’s easy to start believing the hype about them being the center of attention because they have a large following. However, she assures that “her Christian faith keeps her with her feet on the ground.”

faith and music

Kelly was part of the song “Together” with Kirk Franklin in 2020. And she released her own Christian album, “Hiding Place,” in 2018.

Kelly said her faith has been, “a big part of who I am since I was a kid.” Her faith became real and personal during her time in high school.

There are many ways for a Christian to shine for God. “One of my dear pastor friends says it in his church, ‘You don’t have to be here in church to be a minister or to be a light or to plant a seed.’ Some people are called to be in the church. But some people are called to be in the world,” Kelly concluded.
