Some things I’ve learned
Honesty. It takes years to build trust and seconds to destroy it.
comparisons. We must compare ourselves only to the saints to learn from them. Other comparisons come from the bad spirit.
Wealth. To be rich is to be the son of the King who owns everything. Whoever knows his Father will seek the highest treasures that cannot be bought with money.
Food: Feed on the Word of God, reading a passage from the Gospel every day.
Desires and emotions. Those who do not control their desires and emotions will be controlled by them. The yoke will close until the poor victim is strangled. Self-control is the true freedom that takes care of our desires and emotions like the gardener a garden. Take out the bad and fertilize the good.
Build. Destroying is easy and fast. Building is difficult and long.
Word. One word is enough to overthrow years of effort. A word can give life. It depends what spirit inspires you.
Cross. The best school is the contemplation of the cross: only in this way can one learn to love, to forgive, to suffer, to be fully human…
Temptations. “In times of storm, changes are not made” (San Ignacio de Loyola) That is to say: in times of temptation we must never change our position or stray from what we had decided in times of consolation.
Friendship. The true friend is an ally of God who tells us the truth and not what we want to hear.
Heart. When it comes to the heart, men only know what they learn from the hearts of Jesus and Mary.
Lost cause. There is no one who is a “lost case” because the most terrible sin finds a place in the pierced Heart of Jesus.
Happiness: True happiness is not found by millionaires, nor by famous stars, but only by saints. Happiness is the presence of God reigning in our hearts. We can all be saints with the grace of God. Finding happiness does not depend on luck or the success of our plans. it only depends on our total trust and surrender in God.
Love. The only lover is God… and everyone who lets himself be loved by Him.
Some mistakes to avoid.
– Worrying about the future without trusting God. We would lose both in the present and in the future.
– Wanting to be what we are not: our happiness does not lie in dreaming fantasies but in boldly fulfilling God’s vocation for us.
– Lose life to have money: Then we will lose money and have no life.
– Live as if we were not going to die: Death would then be final.
