Chan Kei Thong, a Chinese researcher, has traveled the world to talk about his works and research. The Christian spoke about his research that led him to conclude that the ancient Chinese believed in the biblical God, according to an interview in Brazil by the Agencia Adventista Sudamericana de Noticias.
According to the author, who spent seven years researching, his work was confused with the need to understand the roots and history of Chinese civilization, and because of the prejudice he said he suffered when he became a Christian.
He said about the hypothesis. “The main takeaway is that the ancient Chinese, and I’m talking at their core, not the things in between, but at their beginning, at their core, the ancient Chinese worshiped the God of the Bible.”
“They knew him as a personal God, who is intimately interested in us, with whom we can have a relationship, and that the forgiveness of sins is embedded in Chinese culture,” he concludes.
Chan said her visions are not yet notorious in China. China has a few thousand years of history. It is like an onion, it has many layers, so if you take out only half of it, you are facing Confucius, and many people think of Confucius as representative of Chinese culture.
Yes, if you look back 2,500 years, plus before that, you have 4.5 thousand years of Chinese history, so what I write is 2,000 years before Confucius, which is the core.”
He believes that his work contributes to a more positive vision of the biblical texts. “Chinese records helped us, since Chinese civilization is as old as the Biblical account, so we can be confident that the Bible is corroborated independently of Chinese history, and therefore we have an obligation to listen and obey it.” Well, she has accurate information,” he said.
On the subject, the Brazilian Creationist Society (SBC) published the work “Discovered the Genesis in the Chinese Language”, written by Rev. C. Kang and Dr. Ethel R. Nelson.
On how his interest in investigating this matter arose, the investigator said: “ I grew up in a traditional Chinese home. When I became a Christian at the age of 19, I thought I had moved away from Chinese culture, because most Chinese see the Christian faith as a Western religion. It was very painful. My Chinese family and friends thought I was less Chinese. But I accepted it as a price to pay for knowing Jesus Christ personally. So, I went to work in China, and I lived there for more than 20 years. And little by little I found out that actually the ancient Chinese worshiped the true God, and that’s why I went after it. And now I realize that by becoming a Christian, I am returning to the heart of my ancestral roots.”
The relationship between the Bible and Chinese characters
According to Chan Kei Thong, it all started because he was impressed by the Altar of Heaven in Beijing. This is the imperial sacrificial system. The official translation would be Temple of Heaven, but in reality, the true meaning is Altar of Heaven. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Chinese architecture. All the tourists go there to see why this is one of the must-see places. At first, I didn’t go there because I didn’t like going to temples. As a Christian, I don’t like idols, but I had friends who came to visit me and wanted to see it, and I went with them. When I was there, I realized: Wait. There are no idols in that so-called Temple of Heaven. I only saw the plaque for God.”
