NOTCIACRISTIANA.COM.- The Orlando City player, Alexander Pato, spoke about his football career and how faith has accompanied him along the way.
In an interview for the media The Players’ Tribune revealed how he changed a meaningless life into one filled with joy through faith.
“The first point you should understand is that I left home early. Probably too soon. When you are 10 years old, you are not ready for the world. You go out in search of your dream, but you are alone and it is too easy to get lost along the way.
Pato was born in Paraná and played in basic categories with the Porto Alegre International team.
Fracture
Alexander told how the Lord helped him from a young age to fulfill his dream of being a soccer player.
When he was a child he tripped over a chain in a parking lot and fell to the ground with the impact of the left side of his body on the ground.
After the incident, he was put in a cast, but his situation worsened, since when they did an X-ray they found a tumor on his arm.
The young player needed an emergency operation to remove his tumor, otherwise it would have to be amputated.
Alexander’s family had no money to pay for the operation, but his father did not give up, and showed the doctor several videos of Pato and told him: ‘Doctor, this is my son. I don’t know how to pay for it, but I don’t want him to stop playing, ”he expressed.
The player admits that he doesn’t know how to explain what happened next, but the doctor decided to perform the surgery for free.
“For what happened next I have no explanation. Maybe the doctor saw talent in me. Or he heard the voice of God, ”Alexander said.
Professional soccer
Alexander Pato signed for Milan where he faced various injuries that affected his career.
“I cried, I cried, I cried. I was afraid of not playing football again, ”she confessed.
In 2013, Pato made a deal with Corinthians, when they welcomed him with a high salary, but he had a frustrating moment at the São Paulo club.
The player said that he wanted to participate in the 2014 World Cup and be treated by the physiotherapist Bruno Mazziotti, who treated Ronaldo Nazário.
Tests found that some of his muscles had shortened due to the injuries. “The back of my leg was weaker than the front, so there was some imbalance,” she said.
“Thank God Bruno got me back in shape. Since 2013 I think I have only had three muscle injuries, ”he recalls.
Christian life
Alexander Pato said that he wanted to enjoy being single and went to Los Angeles, where he lived a banal life, only dedicated himself to staying in the best hotels, going to parties and driving an expensive car.
“I was in a place and suddenly a girl started doing cocaine next to me. ‘Dammit, what am I doing here? I don’t want this for my life,’ she said at the time. The player expressed that he took his things and left.
Alexander returned to Brazil and contacted his friend at the time, Rebeca Abravanel, who would later be his wife.
“I joined her and after a few seconds… Man, this is what I want. I asked her out again. I put on a nice outfit, everything was fashionable. She said, ‘Let’s go to church,’ she says. “Church?”, he thought to himself.
It was in his encounter with faith that Alexander thought he was on the right track.
“Man, what a surprise. The Bible had all the answers she had been looking for for years. I looked at the sky and said, ‘Lord, I don’t want that life anymore.’ That day everything changed forever.
Currently, Alexander belongs to the Orlando City team and says that his life has changed completely.
“I see my parents much more often; We are making up for lost time. I have a wonderful relationship with my siblings. I’m in peace with myself. I am a son of God. I love my wife, ”he concluded.
