The prayer of the Creed is a reference prayer of Christianity. It reveals the faith of the first Christians through the main mysteries of the Holy Trinity And from the first ecumenical councils of the fourth century, formalizes the foundations of the christian faith. He discovers this beautiful profession of faith in the two versions of it: the symbol of the apostles Y the symbol of Nicaea-Constantinople.

Creed prayers: symbol of the apostles and symbol of Nicaea.
There are two versions of the Creed. A short version that collects the essential elements of the faith of the early Church: the symbol of the apostles. Another version completes it and comes from the first councils whose name it bears: the Nicaea-Constantinople symbol. (see the origins of the “Creed”)
apostles symbol
“I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the work and grace of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
He was crucified, dead and buried,
descended into hell,
On the third day he rose from the dead,
went up to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God,
almighty father.
It has to come from there
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the flesh
and eternal life. Amen.”
Symbol of Nicaea-Constantinople
“I believe in one God, almighty Father,
Maker of heaven and earth,
of everything visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
Only Son of God, born of the Father before all ages:
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not created, of the same nature as the Father,
by whom everything was made;
that for us men,
and for our salvation came down from heaven,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit was incarnated from Mary, the Virgin,
and became a man;
and for our sake he was crucified
in the time of Pontius Pilate;
suffered and was buried,
and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures,
and went up to heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
and again it will come with glory
to judge the living and the dead,
And his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
that with the Father and the Son
receives the same adoration and glory,
and who spoke through the prophets.
I believe in the Church, which is one, holy, catholic and apostolic.
I confess there is only one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.
I await the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the future world.
Amen.”

When to pray the Creed?
This profession of faith can be prayed when we make our personal prayers; in the same way as the Our Father and the Hail Mary, it is a reference prayer for Catholics. The proclamation of one’s faith is above all personal: the Creed is also in the first person singular (I think); each can profess only his own faith. Therefore, it is very important to understand this prayer, the basis of your faith (find the origin and explanation of the Creed to discover the meaning of each statement in the prayer).
We find the Creed at the beginning of many prayers, in particular in the Rosary, often under the expression of the symbol of the apostles.
However, prayed collectively, this prayer acquires its full value as the foundation of the Church of Christ. This is the reason why the Creed is recited during the masses by the assembly following the form of the Nicaea-Constantinople symbol. It can also be the theme of a song or dialogue as in baptisms (the baptized and/or his parents, godfather, and godmother are brought to proclaim his faith) or in the Easter Vigil during which it is recited the symbol of faith.
And to be able to pray it everywhere, see the versions in Latin, German, English, Italian Y Portuguese of this sentence!
