the eternal mansion

the eternal mansion

One day a lady passed away and went to heaven. There, along with the more than 155,000 people who die daily, she was queuing to find out what her eternal destiny would be. Suddenly Saint Peter appeared and said:

“Come with me and I will show you in which neighborhood the house that corresponds to each one is. This will depend on the amount of love that each one has offered on earth to the others. Here, the only initial fee that is received for your room Eternal is the charity and the good work they have given on earth. Saint Peter guided them through luxury neighborhoods, such as she never thought could exist”.

They arrived at a neighborhood made entirely of gold, houses of gold, doors of gold, walls and ceilings of gold, a wonder, and Saint Peter exclaimed: “Here are all those who spent a lot of money to help the needy, those whose love the others did cost them in life”. In this way, all the generous entered, those who broke bread with the hungry, those who gave their clothes to the poor, comforted prisoners and visited the sick. The lady wanted to enter, but an angel stopped her while saying: “Forgive me, but on earth you did not give even a crumb to others, you never gave anything that really cost you neither time nor money, nor clothing. This neighborhood is only for the generous-hearted,” and didn’t let her in.

Then they passed to another neighborhood of eternity. All the houses were built of ivory, all whiteness and elegance never seen before. The lady hurried to enter such a beautiful neighborhood, but a guardian angel took her by the arm and said: “I’m sorry, lady, but this neighborhood is only for those who treated others cleanly and sincerely. You were a very common person in speech, harsh, critical and sometimes even rude in her treatment. And while the others were rejoicing in taking possession of their luxurious houses, the poor woman stood outside looking enviously at those who had been fortunate. he could not enter, he lacked the initial fee: having treated others well.

They then proceeded to a third neighborhood. Everything was of the purest crystal, everything bright and beautiful, the lady ran to take possession of one of those wonders but the doorman angel stopped her and told her very seriously: In your passport it says that you were not interested in instructing others and you never worried that the people you lived with would become better, so there is no house for you, you lack the initial fee of having collaborated so that others could be instructed in the things of the Lord.

Saddened, the poor woman saw that thousands of very happy people entered to take possession of her house, while she, with a large group of selfish people, was carried downhill towards a truly ugly and disgusting neighborhood. All the rooms were built of rubbish. The only material that had been used for the construction of those houses were garbage objects. Owls flew over there, mice lived in that place. She covered her nose because the stench was unbearable and she wanted to run away.

However, the neighborhood guard told him very seriously: one of these houses will be his room. Come take possession of it. The woman cried out in anguish that no, that was horrible, that she would never be able to live in such a pile of rubbish, and the angel replied: “Madam, this is the only thing we have been able to build with the down payment you sent from Earth. We make the rooms of eternity with the materials that people send from the world. Every day you only sent selfishness, mistreatment of others, gossip, criticism, hurtful words, hatred, stinginess and envy, what else could you have build him?

You yourself sent us the material to build your mansion. The woman began to cry and say that she did not want to live there and suddenly, making an effort to get away from the hands of those who wanted to make her live in such a house, she jumped… and she woke up!

Her pillow was soaked with tears. However, that nightmare served as an examination of conscience and since then he began to change his life and take care of the material that he sent as a down payment for the construction of his eternal house.

Have you ever wondered what kind of materials you are sending to build the house where you will live forever? We are still in time to change the type of material of our initial fee. Let’s start loving others as we love ourselves!
