The flower

The flower

There was a very rich young woman who had everything: a wonderful husband, perfect children, a job that gave her a lot of good, a united family.

The strange thing is that she couldn’t appreciate all that. Work and chores occupied her all the time and her life was always lacking in some area.

If the work consumed a lot of her time, she took it away from the children. If problems arose, she left her husband aside… And so, the people she loved were always left for later. Until one day, her father, a very wise man, gave her a gift: a very expensive and rare flower, of which there was only one specimen in the whole world. And he told:

“Daughter, this flower is going to help you a lot, more than you can imagine. You will only have to water it and prune it from time to time, and sometimes talk a little with it, and it will give you that wonderful perfume and those wonderful flowers”.

The young woman was very excited. After all, the flower was of unparalleled beauty. But time passed, problems arose, her work consumed all her time, and her life, which continued to be confused, did not allow her to take care of the flower. She would come home, look at the flower and the flowers were still there, showing no sign of weakness or death, they were simply there, beautiful and fragrant. Then she passed by. Until one day, without further ado, the flower died. She came home and was upset. She was completely dead, her root was parched, her flowers fallen and her leaves yellow. The young woman cried a lot, and she told her father what had happened.

His father then replied: I already imagined that this would happen, and I cannot give you another flower, because there is no other flower like that. She was unique, as were your children, your husband and your family. They are all blessings that the Lord gave you, but you have to learn to water them, prune them and give them attention, because like the flower, feelings also die. You got used to seeing the flower always there, always blooming, always scented and you forgot to take care of it.

Take care of the people you love!

Always remember the flower, because the Lord’s blessings are like her: He gives us, but we have to take care of it.
