The Public Ministry requests an end to the “Our Father” prayer at a school in Paraná

.- The Public Ministry of Paraná demanded that a school in the region stop the prayer of the “Our Father” in the institution, after receiving a complaint about the fact.

According to a document that JB Litoral had access to, the students were being forced to pray when they were in line.

In response, the prosecutor Cláudia Luíza da Rosa Tomelin, sent a letter to the Municipal Secretary of Education, Mário Braga, where she explained the laws that support the prohibition of all kinds of prayer in the school environment.

Likewise, the promoter informed that she does not accept the justification of the municipal secretary of Education and Culture, that the prayer of the ‘Our Father’ It is done by the students in the formation of queues.

The document of the public ministry says verbatim:

“Considering the complaint received by this Promoter, he again requests the suspension of any type of prayers or prayers in the school environment, as well as the practice of any act that may embarrass students to participate in religious acts contrary to their beliefs, considering that it is not it is part of the school curriculum to promote ‘prayers’ and ‘prayers’ with the students”.

The promoter also highlights the importance of respecting religious freedom and not linking the behavior patterns of students to religion.

Brazil is a secular country since 1890, this means that the interference of religious currents in sociopolitical and cultural affairs is not allowed.
