The seven wonders of the World
A group of high school students were asked to list what they thought were the “7 Wonders of the Modern or Current World”. Despite certain differences, the following were the ones that received the most votes:
1. The pyramid of Chichen Itza (Mexico)
2. The Taj Mahal of India
3. The temple of Petra, in Jordan
4. The Colosseum in Rome
5. Machu Picchu, Peru
6. Christ the Redeemer, from Rio de Janeiro
7. The Great Wall of China
While counting the votes, the teacher noticed that there was a girl who had not finished listing her suggestions. She so she asked if she was having problems with her list, to which the girl replied: “Yes, a little bit. I can’t finish deciding because there are many.”
The teacher then told him:
“Well, read us what you have so far and maybe we can help you.”
The girl thought about it for a moment, but then she read:
“I think the seven wonders of the world” are:
1. Being able to see…
2. Being able to hear…
3. Being able to touch…
4. Being able to try…
5. Being able to feel…
6. Being able to laugh…
7. And being able to love.”
There was such silence in the class that if a pin had been dropped, it would have been heard.
Simple and ordinary things that we take for granted are simply wonderful!
A reminder to always keep in mind: The most precious things in life cannot be built by hand nor can they be bought with money.
