The smile of the man

The smile of the man

Have you noticed? Only of man is the privilege of the smile.

See that the sun warms, gives health, makes plants germinate… its mission is very great. Without him, the world could not exist, but… does he smile? No, although he feeds the day of the universe.

When man smiles, he is bigger than the sun. It is expression, it is sweetness, it is joy, it is love. It is something that the sun, no matter how star it is, no matter how big it is, will never have.

Do plants smile, flowers? Either. They feed man, shelter him in his shadow, beautify the mountains and fields, perfume the flowers with delicious aromas. But do they smile…? No. They have for me before the man more influence than the sun. They don’t smile but they can make a man smile, because of his beauty, because of his scent, because of his shadow…

Look at the animals, the bird, the feline, the fish, do they smile…? No. They can make a man smile, but his smile will never appear on his face.

Look at the sea, the valley, the mountains, the sky, the stars… They are beautiful and can be immense or full of majestic image. But they cannot smile, although they can also cause a smile of pleasure in men.

Therefore, I ask man to smile, to make use of that exclusive privilege created for him. If man smiled more, there would be in his eyes the purity of a child, peace of mind, understanding with his brother… The hand of the one who has everything would resemble the one of the one who has nothing…:

If man smiled more, if he used that unique “gift” that God’s grace gives him more, he would make of the smile a great mantle of love that would cover the earth, as the best offering on the altar of life, because in smile of man, there is the smile of God!
