The wall

The wall

They say that once a man was persecuted by several criminals who wanted to kill him. The man entered a cave. The criminals began to look for him through the caves before the one he was in.

With such desperation he raised a prayer to God, in the following way: “Almighty God, make two angels come down and cover the entrance, so that they do not enter to kill me.”

At that moment, he heard the men approaching the cave where he was, and saw that a little spider appeared. The little spider began to weave a web at the entrance.

The man raised another prayer again, this time more anguished:

“Lord, I asked you for angels, not a spider.”

And he continued: “Lord, please, with your mighty hand, place a strong wall at the entrance so that men cannot enter to kill me.”

He opened his eyes expecting to see the wall covering the entrance, and observed the little spider weaving the web.

The criminals were already accessing the cave before the man was found and he was left waiting for his death. When the criminals were in front of the cave where the man was, the little spider had already covered the entire entrance. Then this conversation was heard:

First Man: Come on, let’s go into this cave.

Second man: No. Can’t you see there are even cobwebs? No one must have entered this cave in a while. Let’s keep looking in the other caves.

Moral. “Faith is believing that you have what you cannot see. Persevering in the impossible” There is a very beautiful phrase that says:

“If you ask God for a tree, he will give it to you, in the form of a seed.”

We ask for things that from our human perspective are what we need, but God gives us those with which he shows us that with very simple things, He can do much more.

As in this reading, sometimes we ask for walls to be safe, but it would not have any merit because we would know and have the certainty that we are protected. God, on the other hand, also asks us to trust Him, to let His Glory manifest and make something like a spider web give us the same protection as a wall.

If you have asked for a wall and you only see a spider web, remember that God can turn things… and trust Him.
