The weight of your cross

The weight of your cross

A young man, he couldn’t handle his problems anymore. He fell to his knees, praying:

“Lord, I can’t go on. My cross is too heavy.”

The Lord, as always, came and answered him: “My son, if you cannot carry the weight of your cross, keep it inside that room. Then, open that other door and choose the cross that you want.”

The young man sighed in relief. “Thank you, Lord,” he said, and did as he was told.

Entering, he saw many crosses, some so big that he couldn’t see the top of them. Then she saw a small cross leaning against one end of the wall.

“Sir,” he whispered, “I’d like that one over there,” he said, pointing to it. And the Lord answered: “My son, that is the cross that you have just left.”

When life’s problems seem overwhelming, it’s always helpful to look around us and see the things that others are dealing with. You will see that you should consider yourself luckier than you imagine. Whatever your cross, whatever your pain, the sun will always shine after the rain.

No cross is heavy when it is Jesus who helps you carry it!
