CHRISTIANNEWS.COM. – Since the Iraq war that began in 2003, Christians have been watching the news involving the countries of the Middle East, because Israel is at the center of these conflicts.
Different theological analyzes had been pointing to the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies.
These analyzes gained strength with the scenario of destruction in Syria, when there was still division over the biblical accounts and the fulfillment of ancient predictions in our days.
Some pointed to the texts of Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49, which talk about the destruction of Damascus, which would become a “heap of ruins.”
At the time, evangelical writer Joel Rosenberg noted that “Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited city on Earth.
The fact that it was being destroyed was something extraordinary… In the past, it was attacked, besieged, and conquered, but it was never completely destroyed and uninhabited.”
The tensions between Iran and the United States were also highlighted as events that recalled biblical prophecies, such as that of Ezekiel, who talks about a great war against Israel involving the country and some allies, described in chapters 38 and 39.
Bill Salus, writer and scholar, said on his television show “Prophecy Watchers” that Christians should view recent events involving Iran, with the probability that Biblical prophecies are being fulfilled.
Joel Rosenberg also re-highlighted the events as a possible fulfillment of Biblical end-time prophecies.
He highlighted the future forecast of Ezekiel 38 as having great significance for Iran and also involving Russia in a possible attack on Israel.
