USA- A video montage of theologian John Piper is circulating on social networks giving alleged support to Jair Bolsonaro (Social Liberal Party, PSL) candidate for the presidency of Brazil. In the material, shared hundreds of times, a visibly out of sync dubbing tries to associate the pastor with a message comparing President Donald Trump to the Brazilian captain.
The audio was already circulating on WhatsApp and, like many of these messages, it did not offer details. It only claimed to be a message from a pastor in Texas. In the material, several comparisons are made between what happened in Brazil with Lula and Dilma and the political situation in the US, with Obama and Hillary Clinton. The unidentified pastor comments on the arrival of Bolsonaro to the government as a decision of God, who “anointed” him to be a “voice of change.”
“Can God use someone who is not a Christian? Of course he can! The Bible says that the heart of a king is in the hand of God. God used Ciro to change a nation and God can use Bolsonaro to change the ideas of a generation in Brazil.”says the author of the recording.
In fact, there are North American pastors who have been declaring their support for Bolsonaro, but John Piper is not one of them. Two weeks ago he spoke on his radio show that he had no time or interest in getting analysis on policy issues.
Bolsonaro supporters
Pastor Mario Bramnick, who is part of Donald Trump’s spiritual council, was in Brazil and drew attention to the similarities between the US president and the PSL candidate.
Recently, Pastor Steve Parson recorded a video in Portuguese calling for the evangelical vote for Bolsonaro, calling the politician a “man of God” and also drawing parallels between Jair and Donald Trump.
