CHRISTIANNEWS.COM- Archaeologists find a table located in a 3,100-year-old temple near Beth-shemesh in Israel, which they presume is related to the Ark of the Covenant, as reported by the Guiame website.
A stone table was also found and it is believed that on top of it was placed the ark of the covenant.
Two large concave gutted stones were also found at the archaeological site, which may have been used to offer offerings to God.
“There is a lot of evidence that this was really a temple,” said Tel Aviv University professor Shlomo Bunimovitz.

The discovery relates to the period of the “big stone” where the Ark of the Covenant was located after being returned by the Philistines.
“The chariot came to the field of Joshua from Beth-shemesh, and stopped there next to a large stone. They then cut down the wood for the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the Lord. The Levites had taken down the ark of the Lord and the box with the golden objects and had placed it on the great stone. On that day, the people of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrifices to the Lord.” read in 1 Samuel 6: 13-15.
However, archaeologists are still not sure that the table found corresponds to the object used by the Jews to support the Ark of the Covenant.
On the other hand, according to biblical data, the stone was not located in a temple, but in a field below the city.
