Truck bomb destroys part of the bridge linking Russia to Crimea

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- A truck exploded on the Kerch bridge and partially damaged the road that connects Russia with Crimea, a region annexed by Moscow in 2014.

The Kremlin claims that it is a “car bomb attack” and that Ukraine is responsible, reports The newspaper.

The Russian authorities indicated that three people died, and that they identified the driver who caused the detonation.

The three deceased were probably in a vehicle that was close to the truck when it exploded.

The Russian Union of Insurers estimated the damage caused to the Crimean bridge by the explosion at between 200 and 500 million rubles (3.2 million and 8.1 million dollars), according to the RIA Novosti news agency.

The Ukrainian air forces reported on their Telegram account the “destruction” of the bridge: “This morning on the Crimean bridge. The fuel tanks are on fire. Part of the causeway was also destroyed! Everything will be Ukraine!”

Mikhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodomir Zelensky, said: “Crimea, the bridge, the beginning. Everything illegal must be destroyed, everything stolen must be returned to Ukraine, everything occupied by Russia must be expelled.
