CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- President Donald Trump hosted his initial political rally of “evangelicals for Trump” 2020, at the King Jesus International Ministry in Miami this Friday afternoon, the 3rd.
Pastor Guillermo Maldonado welcomed the audience of more than 5,000 to the event at the church he and his wife Ana founded and still pastor.
Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, led the Allegiance Pledge, followed by singer Danny Gokey who performed the National Anthem.
After a group prayer, evangelist Paula White introduced the President to the audience.
As the audience cheered, Trump stood behind the pulpit and warned the terrorists not to challenge the United States.
Referring to Thursday’s attack on Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, Trump said: “So, let this be a warning to terroristsif you value your own life, You will not threaten the lives of American citizens.”
The president called the operation that killed Soleimani “a perfect attack.”
“Qassem Soleimani has been assassinated and his bloody violence is gone forever,” Trump told the cheering audience.
“He was plotting attacks against the Americans, but now we are making sure that his atrocities have been stopped forever.”
The president also took a moment to remind Iran that the United States does not want war.
“We are not looking for war,” he said. “We do not seek the construction of the nation. We are not seeking regime change.”

After touting the achievements of his administration, Trump reminded the audience that faith and family must be at the center of American life.
“For America to prosper in the 21st century, we must renew faith and family as the center of American life,” he said.
Trump also pointed to his efforts for religious freedom both in the US and around the world.
“We are defending religion itself. A society without religion cannot prosper. A nation without faith cannot stand,” Trump said.
“We can’t let one of our radical leftist friends come here because everything we’ve done will be gone before long.”
“The day I was sworn in, the federal government’s war on religion came to an abrupt end,” Trump declared. He later added: “We can smile because we’re winning by a lot.”
The president also condemned anti-Semitism, citing recent attacks on Jews in New York. He also said that his administration would continue to defend Israel.
The Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, called Trump’s campaign start “politically brilliant.”
“It is not only logical, but possibly politically brilliant, for the president to kick off 2020 by launching the evangelical outreach of his reelection at a Latino megachurch in the state of Florida,” he said.
Latinos voted for Trump
According to exit polls, 29 to 30 percent of Latinos voted for President Trump in 2016.
“The driving forces behind that Hispanic support may garner even greater support this time around: faith values and economic opportunity. Latino evangelicals represent a constituency that is pro-life, supports religious liberty, and focuses on biblical justice,” Rodriguez said.
He believes that many Latino Christians are unlikely to support politicians who promote socialism, arguing that it was “a socialist worldview that destroyed Venezuela and Cuba and serves as the main conduit for economic and civil rights oppression in Latin America.” ».
Not all evangelicals support Trump
Not all evangelicals are campaigning with Trump. Last month, a Christianity Today op-ed argued that President Trump “should be removed” from office with him.

Trump received more than 80% of evangelical support in 2016 and hopes to increase that number as he goes into 2020.
Several Christian leaders are weighing in on the event, saying that many evangelical voters remain strongly behind Trump.
Strong support from white evangelicals
The Miami rally comes after the Trump campaign reported that it raised $46 million in the fourth quarter of 2019, well ahead of any Democratic candidate.
A new Associated Press poll shows strong support for President Trump among white evangelicals who are also different on abortion.
They spoke to 1,000 American adults of various religious backgrounds and found that 67% of white evangelical Protestants support making abortion illegal, except in cases of rape, incest, or threats to the life of a mother.
