Unusual: Pastor praises his son’s song about sex, weapons and money

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- The pastor of Elevation Church, Steven Furtick, and his wife Holly have been criticized for celebrating a musical project by their teenage son that exalts weapons, sex and fancy clothes.

Elijah Furtick, 16, whose stage name is “Dothedash!”, recently released a series of songs under a project titled “Teen Machine,” reports the Christian Post.

According to the songs’ 30-second introduction, they are a “genuine reflection of some dimension of the author’s experience or personality.” In the music video for one of the songs, “No Hook!”, the teen references sex, alcohol and guns.

Reports say Pastor Furtick celebrated his son’s music project, saying he was inspired by how hard his son worked to create the song.

“You know how proud I am of you. But today, at the launch of Teen Machine, I want you to know that you inspire me,” wrote the pastor of the North Carolina megachurch.

Hip-hop artist and Jesús supporter Ruslan KD, from San Diego, has expressed particular concern about the song “No Hook!” Quoting the scriptures.

“I do not blame you. He is a boy. It’s not his fault. This was co-signed by his mother. She posted it and her mom was like, ‘Yeah!’ endorsing. It doesn’t look nice to flaunt money and jewelry when your dad is a pastor, and there’s nothing authentic about it,” she said.

Additionally, Ruslan noted that he reached out to Pastor Furtick, Holly Furtick and Elijah Furtick to express concern about the videos, but Furtick blocked him on social media.
