US: Gasoline Prices Soar Near $5 a Gallon

USA.- From coast to coast, gasoline prices continue to rise to new and painful levels. American drivers face another record today with a national average of $4.92 a gallon, with some predicting that it could hit $5 before the end of the week.

According to AAA, Tuesday’s average was up a quarter from the prior week and nearly $2 a gallon from a year earlier.

Numerous factors are driving up prices according to AAA, including the war in Ukraine, the supply chain crisis, rising demand and lower production from US companies as Biden administration’s anti-fuel policies fossils and focus on ecological policies.

“It is difficult with these gas prices going up. It’s ridiculous,” said one driver.

Some parts of the nation are experiencing rising gasoline prices, much higher than $5 a gallon. KGO-TV in Mendocino, California, reports that one gas station is charging nearly $10 a gallon.

Hurricanes threaten to get worse

So is there any relief in sight? That doesn’t appear to be the case according to GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan, as gas prices hit new highs in the Midwest.

“Gasoline inventories in the Great Lakes are at their lowest seasonal level on record amid still-strong demand in light of high prices and low supply,” De Haan said.

De Haan says the upcoming hurricane season will be key. Any impact on Gulf Coast or East Coast refineries could drive prices higher.

In Washington, the pressure is on the White House. Since President Biden took office, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has doubled, CBN News reported.
