Utah Governor Calls for Prayer for Rain After Dry Season

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Regardless of religious belief, the governor of Utah, Spencer J. Cox, invited the population to unite in prayer for rain after the dry season that plagues the nation.

“As we pray collaboratively and collectively, let’s ask God or whatever higher power we each believe in for more rain,” said the Beehive State Republican leader.

The political leader said the current lack of water “has the potential to damage crops, severely affect wildlife and cause deadly wildfires in the state.”

“I have already asked all Utahns to conserve water by avoiding long showers, fixing leaky faucets, and planting water landscapes. But I’m afraid those efforts alone won’t be enough to protect us,” Governor Cox said.

“divine intervention”

“We need more rain and we need it now. We need some divine intervention. That’s why I’m asking Utahns of all faiths to join me in a weekend of prayer,” he added.

On May 13, Utah declared a “state of drought emergency” after spring runoff flow fell “below 76 percent of the state’s seasonal average.”

Not only The Mormon State has suffered the ravages of the intense heat waves that have brought its aquifers to the minimum point.

California and Oregon also declared an emergency after experiencing the effects of the drought, a fact that promises to wreak havoc on the Native American communities in the area and could worsen the harvest of agricultural producers.
