.- Andrea Escamilla is a non-binary student who went viral after circulating a video in which she burst into tears because a student called her a partner and not a partner.
A few days ago, Andrea’s life changed, now it is viral for her request and she is known as “partner”.
After the controversy, Andrea is strong, as if the thousands of reactions against her had not affected her.
“This video is going to be a little serious, because it turns out that I went viral. I’m not bothered by memes at all, I think that in the future I’ll make a special TikTok to react to the memes that were made of me, but this is going to be a bit serious because I received a lot of harassing comments and pretty ugly things, I don’t care whatever they say about me or what they think, but there are little people who do, ‘partners’ from the LGBTQ+ community that did affect them, and that’s not cool”, expressed Andrea.
Emotional charge
Andrea had been asking for months to refer to her with the pronouns she or he, but her colleagues always addressed her person calling her “she”: “It’s quite easy, it’s in my name on Zoom and in the background, so I don’t think so there are excuses and obviously I had a break down because of all the emotional load that that entails.
The partner, whom Andrea refers to in the video, made a video on TikTok asking them to stop the harassment against his partner, reports cosmopolitan.
“I have seen that many are getting quite aggressive things on Instagram, Facebook and on TikTok too. Stop doing it, I know it is a reaction that many of us would not expect and that it is done too much to many, but it is not a reason to take personal information from him or send him a DM saying things that are not even relevant, “said the young man.
