VISIT TO THE HOLY. Brief readings for each day of the week
VISIT TO THE HOLY
SHORT READINGS FOR THE DAYS OF THE WEEK
Monday. LOVE TO JESUS
JESUS SPEAKS. For you, young man, for you I am in the Tabernacle. For you the night before I died, and seeing that I was going to leave men according to my visible presence, I found a way to always stay with them, although in a way invisible to the eyes of the body.
To this end, I instituted the Holy Eucharist, converting the bread and wine into my true Body and Blood, ordering my Apostles and all the Priests who would come later into the world, to do the same thing that I had just done.
And here I am in the Tabernacle, night and day, to be your Friend and Companion, to favor you; but you, do you think a lot about me?
Tuesday. INGRATITUDE OF MAN
JESUS SPEAKS. Most of the people do not have for Me the most insignificant detail of civility, and there are many who do not deign to pay Me a visit. And as much as I wish you well! I see them pass in front of my churches and they do not give me a greeting, not a word, not a memory. As if I were not in the Tabernacle! As if he hadn’t done anything for everyone’s salvation! At least you, young of my soul, do not forget me; come visit me every day; do not let ingratitude dominate you. I wait for you here will you leave me alone?
WEDNESDAY- BITTER COMPLAINTS
JESS SPEAKS: If any man on earth had done you much less benefit than I have done you, you would show him your gratitude, you would visit him a few times, you would consider yourself obliged to pay him some attention. Why don’t you do it with me? Don’t you know that I am your God, your Creator, your Father, your Friend, your Benefactor? Don’t you know that for your love, yes, only for your love, I am in the Tabernacle? At least you, young man, come visit me. Say you Love Me? How have you been today? Don’t you like being here for a while keeping me company? Come, come, I will tell you what you have to do and what you have to avoid to please Me and achieve holiness.
THURSDAY. THE DANGERS
JESUS SPEAKS. When I was with my Apostles in the garden of Gethsemane, and knowing the dangers that awaited them, I told them: Watch and pray so that you do not fall into temptation. I say the same to you, dear young man. You are in the midst of many dangers; watch, stay away from them, say your prayers well.
Don’t be reckless; do not voluntarily expose yourself to any danger of sinning, because you would fall miserably. If you know that something is bad or that it is not convenient for your soul, leave it. Would you drink a glass of sweet wine fearing that it is poisoned? Such are many occasions of sin…
FRIDAY. THE SIN
JESUS SPEAKS. My son, why do you sin? Do you not know the enormity of sin and how much it offends and insults me? If you ever sin mortally, it is as if you flogged me, crowned me with thorns and nailed me again to the Cross. Have you thought it through?
By sinning, you give yourself to your enemy and my enemy the devil. By committing a mortal sin, by voluntarily consenting to an impure sin, by leaving Mass on the day of obligation without serious cause, you lose my friendship, you lose your right to Heaven. By committing a mortal sin, you open the gates of hell to yourself. Unhappy! Make here at my feet the resolution never to commit a mortal sin.
SATURDAY. THE GREAT PUNISHMENT
JESUS SPEAKS. I am good and I want the salvation of all men, and I give all my grace so that they are not condemned. The one who goes to hell, is because he wants to.
Have you seriously thought about what Hell is? Do you know what it is to be forever away from ME, away from ME, suffering the pains of Hell? I assure you that if you thought of him, you would not sin.
You who are so delicate and that anything bothers you and you cannot suffer it, how will you suffer the pains of hell, which will never, never have an end? Think about it for a few moments at my feet and make a resolution to lead a fully Christian life.
SUNDAY. HEAVEN
JESUS SPEAKS. Now you cannot understand what Heaven is, what it means to be with me in that glory, which I have prepared for those who love me and flee from sin.
You are accustomed to seeing things on earth, and you picture Heaven as what you see in this world. And Heaven is different, very different from the things here below. If you knew what it means to see God, to enjoy God, to be with me, with your Mother the Virgin Mary, with the Angels and Saints…
Eyes have never seen such a thing; and no matter how much you think and reason, you can never imagine the happiness of Heaven.
There are no pains, sorrows, or tribulations of any kind; there death has no entrance; there all goods are possessed without any evil and without fear of ever losing that glory.
Don’t you understand that it is worth abstaining from the bad things of this world in order to possess Heaven? Do you not know that it is madness, for a foolishness of this world, to lose Heaven, and lose it forever?
Tell me, young man, tell me: what do you intend to do? See that the devil uses all the tricks to condemn you. He therefore watches, alert, and tries not to deceive you.
May the Blessed and Divine Sacrament be praised at all times.
Prayer to the Blessed (by Saint Alphonsus Maria Ligorio)
My Lord Jesus Christ, for the love of man you are night and day in this sacrament, full of piety and love, waiting, calling and receiving those who come to visit you: I believe you are present in the sacrament of the altar. I adore you from the abyss of my nothingness and I thank you for all the favors you have done me, and especially for having given yourself in this sacrament, for having granted me your loving Mother through my lawyer and for having called me to visit you in this church. .
I now adore your Most Holy Heart and I wish to adore it for three purposes: the first, in thanksgiving for this distinguished benefit; secondly, to compensate you for all the injuries you receive from your enemies in this sacrament; and finally, wishing to adore you with this visit in all the places on earth where you are sacramented with less worship and abandonment.
