Why am I in the world?
I am in this world because God created me, because he loves me. And so I have lived 20, 30, 40 or more years, wrapped, sheltered by his love. He created me for something important, not for selfishness. Not for mediocrity, still less for misfortune. He created me to be happy here and there, to be useful, to do something useful.
At this point in life, how will I have fulfilled God’s dream? What meaning does life have for me? I am his creature, everything is a gift from God in me, I exist because of the favor and love of a Creator, and the next days of my life I will continue to live because of the love of my Creator.
There is a Being that keeps my heart moving, that has my intelligence on, that moves my will.
A famous convert said: “For 25 years the most radiant reality of my life is this: God exists and loves me.” That, you and I can say with identical reason.
Today I want to bend my knee before my Maker, and remind myself of what perhaps I had forgotten: “I have nothing, I am not the owner of anything, neither my body, nor my intelligence, nor the day I am living, nor the land I walk on. All this is “made in Heaven”, all this is a gift from Heaven, everything is a gift”.
Thank you! It would have to be one of the most repeated, most wonderful words that I should say every day, every hour; thanks to the sunrise, thanks to the noon, thanks to the sunset, thanks for this day, for the days to come.
I want to thank you inside that most beautiful, impressive temple, which is your Creation: “The world”.
“We know that the universe is the best book to study God, we know that the vault of heaven on a starry night is the best cloister to pray, we have heard the infinitely beautiful symphony of flowers, stars, landscape, sunrises, moonlit nights preceded by twilight perfumed by the purity of wild flowers, to those of us who have the gift of faith, all this gives us a true sense of personal security, a balance and an almost perfect harmony in that another small infinite universe of our humble being.
But, with what a diverse look those who live without faith look at the world. Neither the stars, nor the landscape, nor the dawn, nor the twilight, nor the moonlit nights, say anything to his soul; they live dreaming of their greatness, possessed of their self-sufficiency, striving to create their personal happiness every day, until one morning, or one night, they realize that they are not truly happy, because in the universe of their being, there is something that breaks harmony leaving them with an immeasurable emptiness.
They cannot rely on their intelligence, nor on their beauty, nor on their pleasures, because everything is an inconsistent shadow. They laugh and laugh… but nothing more, because laughter is not only a symbol of happiness but also a mask of tragedy; they contemplate without change of rhythm the days and the nights, the seasons and the years. His soul created for infinity has no other way out than to anchor itself in existential monotony, apparent rest, indifference, passivity, disgust and intimate bitterness”.
Every day is a new life. A new life offers me God when I wake up. Thank you should be the first word with which we open our eyes.
