CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Will Smith’s decision to storm the Oscars stage and hit comedian Chris Rock shocked the world. But then came spiritual advice for Smith from Denzel Washington.
“Denzel Washington told me a few minutes ago: ‘In your prime, be careful. That’s when the devil comes for you.’ I want to be a vessel for love,” Smith said, reports CBN News.
Smith, who won the best actor Oscar for “King Richard” shortly after beating Rock, revealed Washington’s comments during his acceptance speech.
Washington was seen looking stoically at Smith during the speech. His words about the devil, of course, ring true and are biblically sound. The Bible warns believers that Satan seeks to kill, destroy, confuse, and cause consternation.
Washington and others, including actor Tyler Perry, were seen reaching out to Smith and offering comfort after the act of violence that shocked Hollywood and viewers alike and quickly went viral.
“During the commercial break, Will Smith is pulled aside and comforted by Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry. Who tells him to ignore it,” The Hollywood Reporter columnist Scott Feinberg tweeted.
He continued, “Will appears to wipe tears from his eyes as he sits down with Jada again, with Denzel comforting Jada and Will’s manager by his side.”
The unfortunate timing came after Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has a shaved head due to alopecia issues.
