CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- In 2020, when the pandemic began to affect the world, Christians searched the online Bible for verses related to fear, comfort and healing. A year later, his Internet searches changed.
According to the Bible Gateway app, the word with the biggest increase in the number of searches was “witchcraft”. Which had 193% more consultations than in 2020. The impulse was not inspired by witchcraft itself, but by arguments against the Covid-19 vaccine.
“The increase in witchcraft searches is related to the increased interest in the Greek word pharmakeia. Which according to the Mounce Concise Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament, means ‘use of drugs for any purpose; witchcraft, magic, enchantment,’” explains Jonathan Peterson, content manager for Bible Gateway.
Some Christians cite the term indicating that the Bible prophetically warns against vaccinations and vaccine passports. Due to the root of the word pharmacist, reports Christianiy Today.
Pharmakeia is used in Galatians 5:20, when the Apostle Paul lists the works of the flesh.
In debates about the vaccine, Christians are more likely to point to its use at Revelation 18:23, in a statement against Babylon: “Your merchants were the greatest in the world. All nations have been seduced by their sorceries,” they point out.
