Who is the prophet Zechariah?

The Bible presents Zacharias as the son of Berekya, son of Iddo. The prophecies he announced began during the reign of King Darius, and at that time, Zechariah was one of the few prophets who continued to authentically convey the messages they received from God.

Zechariah’s Prophecies

Zechariah spoke primarily of turning to God, following the command of the Lord: “You will say to them: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Return to me – declares the Lord of hosts – and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 1:3). On the other hand, God also used it to announce the coming of the Messiah and reveal an era in which God gave salvation, without favor or distinction, to all who approached Him to ask for it. Furthermore, he also foretold the coming of Jesus, the Savior of the world, through whom all men receive salvation.
