Who is the prophet Ezekiel?

As was customary in priestly families, at the age of 30, Ezekiel was to assume the official position of priest in the Jerusalem temple. However, a few years before the deportation to Babylon happened, and Ezekiel began to have divine visions in a rather complex context: being in a foreign land, and in the midst of the desolation of captivity, as it is written: “In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was in the midst of the deportees, on the banks of the Chebar river, the sky opened and I had divine visions.” (Ezekiel 1:1)

Prophecies of the prophet Ezekiel

Ezekiel was deported to Babylon after the first attack on Jerusalem, and there he received a vision of the glory of God, in which the Lord ordered him to announce to the people the ruin that would fall on Jerusalem, for which Ezekiel adopted symbolic attitudes to call the care of its inhabitants. However, as God had foreseen, his hearts remained hardened and the prophecy was fulfilled with the destruction of the temple and the siege of Jerusalem. Subsequently, Ezekiel began to proclaim God’s judgment against Jerusalem and the neighboring regions. This prophetic book ended with the vision of hope and renewal that God promised his people.
