Our father

The Our Father prayer is one of the main Christian prayers, along with the Creed. Prayed by Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox, it is a beautiful way to leave ourselves in God’s hands. Along with the Hail Mary, it is one of the most recited prayers by Catholics around the world. It is the first and only prayer that Christ taught directly to his disciples and that was transmitted to us.

The Our Father prayer in Spanish

“Our father,
that you are in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
let your kingdom come;
Thy will be done
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread;
forgive our offenses,
as we also forgive
To those who offend us;
Do not let us fall into temptation,
and deliver us from evil.
Amen”

When and how to pray the Our Father?

The Lord’s Prayer is a magnificent prayer that contains both a act of surrender to God like the requests we make of it. It can begin our morning or evening prayer time, or be recited to present an intention.
We also find the Lord’s Prayer in other types of prayers: this is the case in prayers recited with a rosary, or in many novenas.
This prayer is also a communion prayer among Christians (we say “our” Father and not “my” Father). It is important to be able to pray it in the community prayerwhich is the case during mass.
