Why pray to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal?
The apparitions of the Virgin in 1830 to Saint Catherine Labouré in rue du Bac, in the center of Paris, gave rise to the dogma of the immaculate conception and to the promotion of the Miraculous Medal.
During the same 19th century, when Paris was hit by a tragic cholera epidemic and hundreds of Parisians died, many cures were attributed to the virgin of the medal. In this way, she became popular, and became one of the virgins most prayed for by the saints in case of illness, to be healed or to obtain a very special grace. In fact, there is a special novena for Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. By donning this medal, and wearing it fervently, we will have a fountain of graces and keep our lady present with us.
