Saint Ignatius of Laconi – May 11

Francisco Inácio Vicenzo, was born in Láconi, Italy, in the 18th century. From a very poor family, from an early age Saint Ignatius already felt a strong call to religious life, with gifts of prophecy, healing and a strong charisma.
At the age of twenty, after a serious illness, he decided that he would follow in the footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi, dedicating himself to the poor and sick, if he was cured.

After his recovery, Friar Ignatius of Láconi, as he was called, had a true Franciscan spirit: a living example of poverty, always available to the poorest, most helpless and physically and emotionally sick.
He died on May 11, 1781 and after his death, the fame of his holiness was strengthened by the miracles achieved through his intercession.
Friar Ignatius was canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1951.
